The ovrn correspondent of the Press at the Bluff forwards th« following, recalled from Melbourne under date September 28 News from Kimberley states that the steamer Otway has arrived at Ooaaaclt, bringing about forty disapp >lnted diggers. One of them says that the rumor that Mr O’Donuell had been shot at by enraged diggers is confirmed. Many of thorn on the field are '-offering from scirvy, amt the best reports are that some of th». diggers are doing fairly well. Th •• captain of the Otway says that it is impossible to get, authentic Information about the diggings, but he himself thinks that they are a complete failure* aod will enrich no one, but will prove disastrous to thousands.
The latest news from the field Is from Ooppeo’s Gully, dated August 12th, when Mr Colin telegraphs to the Sydney Morning Herald thut the digging* are a complete failure, Idwt per day being considered a good find, and hundreds not making that. Numbers are leaving daily. There are about 800 on the field, who are stiff sting great hardships and misery now, and sta ration must ensue. Some of he finest class of men and the completes! outfits 'ever seen on an Australian goldfield are on the groand, no expense having been spared. At Derby the Derby sto e keeper cleared out, otherwise his life w mid have p-nd the penalty of his report* about the field.
