ASHBURTON RACING CLUB,

A meeting of the Committee of the Ashburton 'R.'v'np Club was held at the Commercial Hotel on Sa nrday evening. Present -Messrs Parnell (chairman). Denshire, Thomas, Crisp, Zander, M. Friedlander, and R. Friedlander. The principal business before the meeting was the consideration of the action of the Dunedin Jockey Club in fixing its Spring Meeting for da'es which clashed with those of the Ashburton Club. The action of the D.J 0. was severely criticised, and after some discussion it was resolved that the Ashburton Glob's races should be held on December 9tb and 10th, instead of November 25th and 26tb M previously arranged. TINWALD RACING CLUB. A meeting of the Tinwald Racing Club was held on Saturday night, when eleven gentlemen were present. It was decided to hold the races as usual on January Ist, 1887. A draf‘ ol programme was submitted a« under, and was adopted:— Hurdle Bare, £ls, 1J mile ; Novel Hurd’o Race, £2O, 1J miles ; Cup. £3O. 1* mile; Time Trot, £ls, 2 miles ; Maiden Base, £lO,l mile; Flying Hack Race, £lO. f mile; Selling Hack Bice, £lO, Jr m,le : Consolation, £lO,l mile; Hurry Scurry, for entrance money, 1J mi'e, for herses that have never won public" money. It was resolved that last year’s officers be requested to again act. The Club reserved to itself the right of handicapping.
