ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET Messrs Macpheraon, Sampson, and Co. report on the Ashburton Live Stock Sales On Tuesday, 21st inst. : The supply of sheep brought forward was considerably in advance of the number penned for some weeks past. The bidding throughout was somewhat tardy, yet the demand was steady, and all the lines were cleared (with the exception of one or two) at an advance of from la to Is 3d per head on previous sales. Out of an entry of about 4500 the following are the prices realised for most of the lines disposed of: —Crossbred hoggets, 6s 2d, 6s lOd, 7s Id, 7s lOd, 7s lid, 8s; crossbred wethers, 9s 10d, 10s 3d, 10s 6d ; crossbred ewes, in lamb, 8s Id ; merino ewes, in lamb, 3s lid, 5s 8d; merino owes, with 90 per cent of lambs, 6s 2d ; merino ewes, with lambs, 4*. Cattle— The supply yarded was scarcely up to the average, .the quality being decidedly Inferior,lint the demand, notwithstanding, was moderately brisk. Springing heifers, £$ 14s to £4 ; beef heifers, £4 15s ; yearling heifers, £.l 9s ; springing cows, £3 £8 2s,- £5, £5 10s; dry cows, £2 15s; yearling steers, £2 2s ; realers, 295.
