NEW SOUTH WALES v. AUCKLAND. Aucklahd, September SI. The football match ~ Auckland v New South Wales—came off at Newmarket this afternoon. From 3000 to 4000 people were present, and the weather was splendid. Mr Me Arthur umpired for Sydney, and Mr £ F. Cotton for Auckland: Ur Thomas R, Henderson ac:ed as referee, hhaw captained the Sydney and Ryan the Auckland team. In the first team Colqnhoun (Sydney) potted a gaol from the field, and Marshall (Auckland) got a try, which McCausland converted Into a goal. In the second term Sydney did not play so well, while Auckland played a man ahott, McCans* land having retired through a strained leg. Whiteside g. t two tries. Ryan failed to kick in one case, but Lnckie converted the other into a goal. Marshall got another try, but Lockie failed to kick a goal. The match ended in Auckland a inning by fourteen points to four. Seven new men were in the Auckland team, Arneil, Polland and two Warbr cks being out of li i raone the Aucklanders} Marshall, Whiteside, Madlgan, Lindsey acd lu kie jLyai well, aid for Nsw Mouth Wales, Austin, Colqnhoun, Walker and Shaw. The Sydney tsam have decided to atop till the next boat, on Tuesday, and will play another match op Saturday.
