LONDON MARKETS.
London, September 16. The hop yield is 650,000 cwt. Many, discolored crops have not been picked. Wool is hardening at slightly lower (?) rates. Merino is higher, and crossbreds showan increase of 20 to 25 per cent, above the July closing rates; 140,000 bales are catalogued, only 60,000 are available for next series. Lund >n, September IS. At the woolj sales to-day 12,900 bales were offered. The market was strong. Since the opening of the series 500 bales have been withdrawn. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from London, dated 17th September, 1886 : Wool—Competition is increasing, and quotations are, on average, id per lb better than at the opening of the sales. The American demand has fallen off. Up to date 16,000 bales have been sold. The sale programme has been curtailed by four days. Tallow is dull of sale. Both beef and mutton tallow of New Zealand origin have declined 6d per cwt. since last report.
