Rtealiatr Iron. AncKiiKD, September 16. About two tons of pig iron have been recently missed from the yard of Oruickshank and Co, Commerce street. Some of the remaining iron was marked and was last night found to hare disappeared and this morning Detective Herbert arrested three men, Simon Wes tall, Henry and James Norris in the act of selling marked bars land others at Masse field's fouodary? Prisoners appeared at the Police Court and were remanded. Drowsed The schooner Sybil, which arrived from an Island cruise this afternoon, reports that Captain Tray to was accidentally drowned at Manihlid Island. Trayte is an old and well-known South Sea trader. The schooner came In charge of the mate. A family of Thlerer.

A (family of six, father, mother, two daughters and two sons, by name Cook, appeared In Court this morning to answer charges of wholesale larceny and the receipt of stolen goods. The boys wero little fellows, the glrls’of mature age.' For some time past complaints have bean general of petty thieving, especially of amallfgooda and flowers. Yesterday the two boys were oanght in the act of stealing some articles from the front of a general store and on visiting Cook's house a large assortment of miscellaneous good , some still bearing the shop marks, was foand. This morning a number of tradesmen'had quite a busy time at the police station identifying their property. The two boys pleaded 1 ‘ guilty," the reel “ not gniity. ’’ All were remanded for a week. Colonial Commission. Lieutenant Andrews, of Sydenham, who was recently granted a commission in the line, has been appointed for the Ist Battalion of Sherwood Forresters, the Derbyshire regiment now stationed in Ireland. A case of some importance vu h«u4 In the Supreme Court this morning. The plaintiff Pritchard, of Blenheim, bought in a sale for £SO a property over Vhich he held a mortgage. The Stamp Office sought to charge him dnty on the nine, £9OOO, which he resisted. Judge Richmond decided he was only liable to psy on the £SO. Cricket; CsBiSrcHOBOH, September 16. _ A letter has been received by a prominent Christchurch cricketer from the Secretary of the Melbourne Cricket Association, which leaves no doubt that the Australian Eleven now in England will be in the colony daring the latter part of November and the beginning of December. They will probably arrive at Dunedin on November 23rd, and will have to leave the colony in time to play Lilly white’s team in Sydney on December 17. They play three days’ matches in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Auckland, hut will not be able to play at Wellington. The Christchurch match commences either on December 1 or 2.

Dunbdiw, September 16. In the Divorce Oonrt a decree mm was granted in the case Sarah Emma Kilpatrick against Joseph Kilpatrick, formerly an auctioneer In Dunedin, on the grounds of cruelty and desertion. Respondent did not appear.
