The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show the proportion of reserve to liabilities to be 47 per cent. The total reserve in notes and bullion is 200,000. The market rate of discount is 2*4, or below the minimum Bank rate. At the colonial wool sales to-day bales were offered. The market remains firm, with an active demand.

OBITUARY. London, September 10. The death is announced of Mr Samuel Morley, the well-known politician, aged 77.
