HAKATERE V HAMPSTEAD

A ratepayer In the town district of Hakatere, who heard rf the application made by the Board to change the name of the district, bat who was no* aware of any reply from the Government being recorded on the minuses, wired yesterday to the Government about the matter. To-day he received the following telegram :—“ Mr Mayo, Chairman of Town Board, wjb informed on seventeenth August that there is no power to alter the name of the Town District.—G. 8. OoopjSB.”
