THE KIMBERLEY GOLDFIELDS.
[TELEGRAPHED FdOM THE BLDF/.] Adelaide, August 31. Mr A J. Diamond, of the finn of P. Falk and Co , has returned from a basinets trip to Derby. He expresses an opinion from personal observation that ihe Kimberley diggings are likely to prove permanent. While at Derby ha saw 600 zi of gold, besides which there is always a quantity coming down which Is not made known. He saw sold by one party, bat they ssid gold was very scarce End hard to get, and that it was foolish f«t anyone to go to the diggings. They returned, however, themselves. There Is plenty of feed and water along the route from Darby, ard he thinks the discouraging reports all ome from men who went via Cambridge Gulf.

News frona Wyndham, Cambridge Golf, dated August 29 h, states that it is imposaibb to know what gold has been brought down, as it has been purchased by storekeepers, but nothing has been heard of ti warrant the prreant rash. AU from the fbld report the digging as surfacing- without sinking, or that wash-gold is obtained from crevices in rocks It is believed that good reefs may be found. freuter's telegrams— copyright 1 Brisbane, September 7. The steamship Sikh has arrived at Cooktown from Hong Kong ii« Port Darwin, where she shipped eighty returned diggers from the Kimberley district. The steamship Menmuir has also arrived from Darwin with 180 returned diggers, Melbourne, September 7. Official reports of a satisfactory character have been published regarding the Kimberley distric 1 , where two thousand men are stated to be working. Private telegrams from the Cambridge Golf state the roads from there to K’tnberley are impassable.
