The Wellington correspondent of a contemporary Bays :—lt ia currently rumored that at a dinner of members . just before the close of the session it was announced confidentially that Sir J. Hall was about to return to resume the leadership of the party, and that this news was received with immense applause and a complimentary toast. The Evening Post says:—“lt is rumored, although the authority ia doubtful, that I the Hon W. fl. Reynolds, having no portfolio to engage his a'tention, will devote a considerable portion of the recess to an attempt to reorganise the Civil Service so as to effect substantial retrenchment. Giving Mr Reynolds credit for the very beat Intentions and utmost devotion to the interests of economy, we may be pardoned for ex pressing a doubt at .to his possession of any special faculty of organisation such as would be required to efieot the purpose aimed at. He might very easily meddle in directions which would produce a perfect condition of muddle, but he 's one of the last men in the colony to whom we would be inclined co entrust the reorganisation of a large and complex service such as ours."
