Hart) 3 Wrangler (12st 101 b, 71b over), Darkle (12« t 3 b), and Silver Shot also ran. After some delay at the post, the field was despatched to a fair start, and Pickwick led to thefiret fence, which he jumped three lengths in advance of Wrangler and The Beast, This order wss maintained past the stand and to the jump oat of the coarse, where The Beast was the only one to get over at. the first attempt. The man was soon followed by Pickwick, and the rest of the field, and The Beast, Clyte and Pickwick raced t > the post and rsi'a. As they turned into the straight, C’yte held command, but ves immediately challenged by Pickwick, and the fine horsemanship of Mr Bees on the latter horse won a splendid race by half a length ; The Beast close up, third. Totalisator dividend, £6 12s. Homers’ Flat Race Handicap of 15 sovs. Minimum weight. lOst Two
nines. Mr E Wilson’s b g Panic, aged, 12at 3lb ... (Mr &. Murray-Ayosley) 1 Mr E W. Bowyer’s oh g Rngby, 12st 71b (Mr Fisher) 2 Dr Leahy’s b g Teaser, list 31b (Mr Smith) 3 Sawdust (12st 31b), and Nero (lOst 101 b) also ran.
Panic, Sawdust, and Teaser led alternately lor the first mile, when Rngby went to the front and held command half a mil* from home. At the home turn Panic passed the leader, and going on won comfortably by a length. Totalisator dividend,
£2 11s. Consolation Handicap Steeplechase, of 10 sovs. One mile and a half.
Mr J. C. N Grigg’s b m Clyte, aged, list 71b (Mr Harrold) 1 Mr Alan Truce’s b m 'ihe Beast, 6yrs, lOst 12lb (Mr Hart) 2 Mr J. Kemp’s b g Larry, aged, 12st 41b (Mr Pawle) 3 Rajah (12at 71b), Silver Shot (lOst 71b) also ran Clyte made all her own running, and won by four lengths, Larry a bad third.
