The Ashburton Hunt Club was favored with magnificent weather for its postponed An uti Ste >plecl ases tc-day. Notwithstanding the recent heavy rain-
f*ll, the conrse was in fairly good order, and the attendance was rather above the average. Mr J W, Mcßae, of the Central Hotel, was in charge of the two publicans’ booths, and Mr W. C. Davis presided at the confectioner's booth, and boih caterers appeared to give the utmost satisf c ion 'o their numerous patrons. Messrs Mason and Roberts worked (hoir totalis* tor with their usual accuracy and expedition. The ketch Gipsy trading between Le Bone Bay and Lyttelton, was wrecked in the bay on Friday evening. She had a full cargo of stones and building material, the whole of which) is lost. Neither cargo nor vessel was insured. The crew, after being exposed in rn open boat for about throe hoars, managed to reach the shore.
