Sir Graham Berry has had an interview with Mr Stanhope, Secretary for the Colonies, at which he strongly urged that an understanding should be come to with the French Government to fix the date of the withd aval of the French troops from the New Hebrides. It is currently asserted that the French Government intends to retain the New Hebrides, pending the settlement of other matters in dispute between the English and French Governments.
