Messrs Matson, Cox and Co report upon the Live Stock Markets for the Ashburton District, for the week ending Angnst 17ih, as follows :—On Tuesday, at the Tinwald Yards, we held oar usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle and pigs. The weather was again most Inclement, making it almost impossible to travel stock, and several Mnes of sheep that were coming forwerd were withheld in cjnseqncnoe. There were about 1200 sheep yarded, only a small porportion of which were fat, and a few fat cattle and springers. The attendance of buyers was very small. Fat (crossbred owew realised 8s 6J; a good line of crossbred ewes in iamb not reaching owners reserve were withdrawn ; merino ewes in lamb, fairly sonnd mouth, 4>, In cattle—fat cows, £4 16s. £5 10s. £6, and £6 2s 6i ; springers, £4lO l to £5.
