IRRIGATION.
TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—The farmers interested in irriga tion put one in mind of tho little boy standing on tho brink of a stream dabbling with tho water to see if it ia cold, but frightened to plunge in. So are the formers with regard to irrigation, who art waiting for their wet nurse, in the shape of the County Council or Government, to give them pap It may bo consoling to them to know that tho late Mr J. J Mechi, of Tiptreo Hall, Essex, says in his book, “ How to Farm Profitably,” that ho irrigated rye grass with a very profitable Omit If it can bo done in a wet county like Essex how much more on these dry plains.Qigain, tho whole cost of irrigating thp plains per acre is less than tho value of due bushel per acre, and does any farmer tlrnk that irrigation will give a leak increase per acre than that.— ' Yours, etc., SPECTATOR
