SERIOUS CHARGE.
Alleged Wife Poisoning. Tjmabu, August 10. Great excitement was caused in town ti ky the news that a well-known and highly respected resident ol Tirntro li&d been arrested last night charged with having attempted to murder his wife by administering antimony. Thomaa Hall, nephew of Sir John Hall, ex Premier of the colony, Is the man accused of the crime, and Miss Margaret Houston was arrested at the same time. The prisoners wiU be brought before the Magistrate at one o'clock to-day. Later. Thomas Hall and Margaret Graham Houston were brought up at the B.M. Court this afternoon, before Mr Beswick. Mr White, Crown Prosecutor, who appeared for the police, asked for a remand till this day week. Accused's counsel did not oppose, but asked bis Warship to allow bail, as it would be forthcoming to any amount. The police opposed ball, and Mr Beswick declined the responsibility. Tb# prisoners were remanded till Monday next, bail being refused. The affair has created a profound sensation In Timarn.
