THE NEW GOLDFIELD.
The Oainaru Mail thus further alludes to the find of gold at Hampden In connection with the gold discovery near Hampden, we have been shown by Me J. D. Hamilton a specimen of gold-bearing quartz found in the locality, thus clearly indicating the presence of a reel in the n 'ighborhood. We are informed that two parties of men who have been working at jfche place have made 12a a day per man for a fortnight;, and we are assured that were the ground thrown open fully HO men would be able to make fair vrages upon it. There Is not, however, much hope of anything like an extensive field being discovered, though there are Indicatiotß of a good reef in the neighbourhood,
