A NOTEWORTHY CELEBRATION.
Fhe 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Columbus will be celebrated at Washington in 1892. The 13th of Octal 9t was the day on which Columbus sighted San Salvador, and a grand autumnal holiday has been suggested in the United States. The Abbe Casanova, a Corsican archaeologist, has discovered archives which show that the great navi* gator was born in tho town of Galvl, in the Island of Corsica, and emigrated to Genoa. A short time ago, President Grevy carefully sifted the evidence submitted to him upon this subject, and being satisfied of its genuineness, has authorised the authorities of Calvi to celebrate by a& official holiday the 4'JOth anniversary ef Columbus’s great discovery.
