Result of Poll. Wellington, July 19. This evening the result of the poll on the Government Insurance Association resolutions was declared. On Mr Bell’s resolution :—“ That It is advisable that the Association should be returned to the charge of the Government," the numbers were given as : For ... 3183 Against ... ... ... 1508 On Mr Bell’s alternative motion “That the Board should be reduced to six members, of whom three should be elected, and another three should be the Solicitor-General, the Secretary to Treasury, ani either the Public Trustee or the Comm ssioner of Property Tax ; three to be a quorum if the chairman be present or four if tha chairman bo not present." The voting was— For ... ... ••• 514 Against ... ... ... 3796 On Mr Fisher’s motion—“ That the Central Board be reconstituted, and that it consist of seven members, and font to be elected by the policy-holders and three to be nominated by the Government ; the three nomlcated members not to be officers of tha Government. (2) That the Board so reconstituted shall elect its own chairman. (3) That the honoraria be fixed at £IOO for each member of the Board, except the Chairman of Directors, who shall receive £309 per annum. The voting was— For 1717 Against ... 2680 Several voting papers were Informal, in consequence of policyholders either voting in the affirmative for whole three resolutions, or voting In the negative for three.
