DISTRICT RAILWAYS PURCHASE,

The matter of the sale of the District Railway debentures has been raked np again by a question by SirG. Grey, upon which the adjournment of the House was moved, and a general debate ensued, in the course of which Sir J. Yogel intimated that he had given instructions for a libel action to he commenced against the New Zealand Times and one of the evening pap-rs, which turns out to be the Evening Press, dara -g-s being laid in each case at £SOOO Mr Garrick defended the Commiitee, and made a severe attsck upon Major Steward, to wh’ch that gentleman replied, showing that the pouns made by Mr Garrick were not 6iipp'>r J f.'l Vv h - fn-> The debate com mu. a tiii 5 00, and wiil probably be resumed at the evepieg sitting.
