THE KIMBERLEY RUSH.
Adelaide, July 6
A reporter at Port Darwin, who interviewed the visitors from the goldfield, elicited the following :—The present position of the goldfields is about 400 miles from Derby and 300 from Oa nbridge Gal f , bat the fo mer hein? the best market, the longer trip Is pr fe-rel The road sffirda fair travelling. The place at which Ueadley, Moore and Co. have been working, where they obtained the gold, was Brtckman’s Creek, about ten miles from the junc'ion of the Elvira River. Gold has been got in small patches, but as yet there are no signs of a pe manent field where they have been working. There no water within liree m iss. They also state that although possibly a good reefing district might be opened up in the future, th- re is no warrant for a big tush of diggers to Kimberley, and none should come unless well equipped with horsrs and rations.
The statements regarding the goldfields are of .the most conflicting character. It Is rumoured that in order to prevent an Increased rush to Kimberley the miners are simply sending sufficient gold t> procure provisions, and moat of the parties have gold to a large extent In camp. The actual gold brought into town up to the present time amounts to SODoz As fif y men are supposed to have been four months prospecting the quantity stated would not produce a very rich average.
