Mr A. Levy, J.P., Secretary of the Wellington bianch of the Temperance Alliance, has been missing since Thursday, and nothing has been heard of him since. On Wednesday last Mr Levy and the members of the Cook Licensing Cotnr. ittee each received a letter threatening that their lives would be taken if they peis’sted in a determination to close three hoi el? in the district. No reason is known for Mr Levy’s absence, which is causing ac x ety to his friends. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police.
