Arson.

Mr Justice Gillies this morning pawed a sentence of 7 years penal servitude on George Mccaslin, convicted of arson at Newton. Ho said the evidence left no doubt as to the guilt of either the piisoner or his w,fe. The prisoner protested his innocence and said his great fault had been love of drink. A Sad Occurrence.

At the inquest on the body of the boy Taylor, burnt to death at Mount Eden, a verdict of accidentally burned was returned. Mrs Taylor received aero us burns while endeavouring to save the child.
