DOMESTIC DIFFICULTIES.
C ihistchuroh, Jnly 8 Mrs Messenger, the wtfs of the publican who was recently brought back f ora Australia on a charge of wife desertion, recently left for Auckland, leaving her six children to the care of the father. He has retaliated by laying an information against hia wife for stealing his furniture, etc., to the value of €35 I Mr Baetham did not issue a warrant, but •nmmoned Mrs Messenger to appear in Christchurch. The cam wis called on to-day, but she did not appear Mr Martin solicitor, who had been in atructed by friends, stated that she had not the m ans to pay her passsge. Mr Beetham remarked that the case was one of the moat r-markable, as illustrating the topsy turvydom. of married life, that he had ever heard of. As there waa no proof of the service of the summons the cue was adjourned for a week, the magistrate expressing a hope that it would be settled.
