CORN EXCHANGE.
The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, July 2nd : —The markets have experienced another quiet week. Little grain fa arriving from the country the chit f eaV, being for ex-store parcels, farmers having almost entirely sold out. Wheat—Prime Tuscan has purchasers at 4i Id to 4s 2d, and Pearl, with the strong local demand among millers, is of equal value ; Huattr’s la more largely held, and consequently prices are net quite to firm at Ss lid to 4j ; seconds well dressed, fetch as high as 3s 9d, white fowl, feed is very bare at 3s 3i to 3s 6d. Oats have hardened, and milling are scarce at 2 1 Gd ; \ good short feed are more plentiful, but are firm at 2a 4i to 2a 4il ; long sorts have been more s.uight after, and bring 2a 2d to 2a 3d ; seed Tartars are asked for locally. Barley is sluggish, and except prime mailing, which is worth 3s Id to 3s 3d, is cot saleable at over 2s 9d; feed is scarce at 2a 4 1 to 2s 6d Beans have plenty of buyers at 3a Id to 8a 2d, and feed peas at 3s 3d. Prussian Blues are wanted both for seed and export at 4s to 4» 3d. Bye grass evinces a firmer tone as tpring approaches, and machine dressed is firmly held at 5s to 5s ?d. Farmers’ parcels vary ’in price and quality, and are worth 4s to 4s 6i. Cocksfoot, clean and heavy seed, can be readily sold at 41 Light and inferior samples, 3id to 3|d. Potatoes remain at last week’s quotations, viz , 50a to 55a, at country stations. Sydney advices lately to hand report that the rise noted last week has not been maintained Consequently we have to rely chiefly on local and interprovincial requirements. Dairy produce has had a quiet trade enquiry at for prme tub butter, lid to Is. Cheese, 4£d to 6Jd. The above prices (potatoes excepted) are for delivery, f.o.b. Lyttleton.
