The Elections.

ham; William Coddington and Sir Robert Peel, Conservatives, Blackburn; Timothy Sullivan and Timothy Harrington, Dublin ; Major Dickson, Conservative, Dover; Alexander Hull, Conservative, Oxford: Allsopp, Conservative, Taunton; Hon. Walter James, Liberal, Gateshead. The statement previously telegraphed that 265 members were elected without opposition is erroneous. It should have been stated 265 candidates nominated and that numbers are unopposed. The actual returns of those elected without opposition show 15 Conservatives, 8 Unionists, and 8 Gladstonites, and include the following in addition to names already telegraphed :—Sir Robert Fowler and John Hubbard, Conservatives, for City of London; C. P. Villiers, Liberal, Wolverhampton, south division ; Sir Henry James, Liberal, Bury, Lancashire; William Hunt, R. Jas. Bryce, Peter Essilmont, and Robert Farquharson, Liberals, for Aberdeen seats; William Grantham, Conservative, Croydon; Charles James and Henry Richards, Liberals, Merthyr Tydvil; Colonel L. RichardsonGardner, Conservative, Windsor; Sir Charles Foster, Liberal, Walsells. London, July 2. The announcement that Mr Davitt intended to oppose the return of the Marquis of Hartington tor Rossendale, a division of Lancashire, is stated to be erroneous. m London, July 3. Sir Graham Berry and Mr Garrick have sent a joint despatch to Earl Granville, Colonial Secretary, express sing a hope that he will urge that France withdraw from the New Heb rides at the earliest possible moraem. The election returns now show 47 Conservatives,' 10 Unionists, 13 Gladstonites, and S Parnellites. The following old members are re-elected : Lord Edward Cavendish, Liberal, West Division; Edward Stanhope, Conservative, Horncastle; Sclatier Aootb, Conservative, Blackpool; Sir R. J. Mowbray-Talbot, Oxford University ; Sir John Labuck, Liberal, London University; MacDonald, Conservative, Edinburgh University; Jas. Campell, Conservative, Glasgow University ; Trotter, Conservative, Manchester.
