The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day at Chichester against an eleven selected by Lord March, The weather was sp’eniid, and there was a good attendance. Tha Home team went ln[first, and put together 140, Jesse Hide being the highest a- orer with 4G The Australians, a* the c'oss of the day’o play, had scored 145 with seven wickets down. T ondoN, June 29. The cricket match at Ciiicaestt?r, Aus traUans versus Lord March's eleven was resumed and concludes today. The weather was fine and the attendance was only moderate. The w-ck t was much cut up by yes erday’s p ay- The first innings of the visitors chsed for 173 Garrett was the largest contributor, 40 (c). The Home team in their second innings made a poor stand against the bowling of Qiffen, and only succeeded in putting together 63 runs. The Australians thus had only 31 runs to get to win. These they obtained with the loss of but two wickets and won the match with eight to spare. In the first innings of the Englishmen Spoffonh took 6 wlcktti for 70 runs ; in the second innings tsiffen took 7 for 20, the bowling being splendid.
