UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Upper Road Board was- held at the Board’s Office, Tinwald, yesterday Present —Messrs McLean (Chairman), Harper, Sergeant, and Foster.
CORRESPONDENCE, 1 Correspondence was read as follows ! (1) From the Education Board, enclosi g copy of conditions of lease of reserve 1122. . Received. —(2) From the Engineer of the , County Council, stating that the Council would contribute towards the protection ' of road near Methven.—(3) From the 1 Property Tax Commissioner, enclosing supplementary roll for district. —(4) From the Paymaster-General, enclosing rates for Crown and Native lands.—(s) From the Ashburton Borough Council, enclosing account in connection with fire at Quinton’s Brewery. The Board did not recognise the claim, and expressed an opinion that the account should be rendered to Messrs Quinton. —(6) From Mr John Walker, asking leave to occupy reserve 1948. Leave given on usual conditions —(7) From Mr G. Nicholas, offering to purchase cotttage. Clerk to call for tenders for two cottages From Mrs Caroline Johns, asking that work might be done in Baker street. Left with Surveyor and member for ward to deal with (9) From Mr Ronald Campbell, asking that tussocks might be cleared. The Clerk was directed to order the maintenance contractor to do the work —(10) From the Ashburton County j Connell, notifying that all payments on account of eggs and heads are suspended surveyor’s report. The Surveyor’s report was read and considered, and it was resolved to invite tenders for various, works by next Board I day. ; PAYMENTS. | Accounts amounting to £B9 13s 4d ‘ were passed for payment, * ADJOURNMENT. After further business, the Board ad- • journed to July 26th.
