A Watery Grave. Christchurch, Jane 23. An elderly man, William Jansen, left the Waterman’s steps at Lyttelton yesterday morning in a boat belonging to some fishermen, intending to have a day’s j fishing. Portion of the boat was foond at | the pilot station this morning. It Is feared the boat was ctpslzed and the inmate drowned. The Blasting AccidentDunedin, Jnne 24. The City Council has settled all compensation claims ont of the Dowling street accident, except Irwin, who claims £2OOO, and Miss Vivian, who claims £SOO. These are expected to be settled without recourse to law.
