A man named Wm, Cameron was sentenced to day at R.M. Court to six months imprisonment for endeavoring to obtain £lO from the Post Office Savings Bank by false pretence. He arrived with bis brothers pass book on which had substituted bis own name. He clumsily trie! to draw out money and was given la charge.

Tarthquake. DUNEDIN, Jane 23. Shocks of earthquake were felt here at 0.17, this morning. The (first was rather sharp, the second slight. The duration was from three to ten seconds, and the direction north to south. It is reported also that the earthquake was felt in several parts of the country. Invercargill . June 24.

A slight shock of earthquake was felt at 6.21 a.m. today. It was also felt at Dipton, 36 miles awry, and very severely at the Bluff.
