At the annual meeting of the Govern ment Insurance Association to- night, th a Chairman (Sir J. Vocel) reported that 2571 votes had been recorded In favor of Mr G. V. Shannon and 1-128 la favor of Mr Graham.

Tbe Chairman moved the adoption of the report, which was carried. M*jor Atkinson desired to move an ! amendment allirmiiig the principle that no now buildings should be erected in Welbngton cr ehewhere. The Chairman ruled it could not be put, and Major Atkinson said he would call a special meeting to discuss the question. The Chairman announced that Mi Duthie would be reci mm ended for thseat as a nominated member, rendered vacant Ly the resignation of Hr Shannon, at d that a Bill would ho introduced Into the House legalising the division of the quinquennial profile, as soon aa the actuaries’ report was received from homo bo as to obviate auy delay. A special meeting was then held Mr Bid proposed a resolution, to the (fleet th-‘ the control < f the institution he handed back to the Government, but ,in 6 nsequ enca of the lateness of the hour, it was decided to adjourn until Monday,
