Mr Fawcett brought up the question of name, which he said had (been referred to the Board by a recent meeting of ratepayers. The Chairman expressed the opinion that the name could only be changed on a petition signed by a majority of the ratepayers. He asked the proposer and seconder of the motion to allow it to remain in abeyance until next meeting, by which time authorities could be looked up. It it were as he thought, he would suggest that it would be well to prepare a petition to be signed by the ratepayers who were favorable to a change, and let them settle the question once and for all. After some discussion it was resolved that the Board should express its opinion on the matter prior to any further steps being taken. Mr Carter moved as an amendment—“ That the name be changed to Trevorton.” Mr White seconded pro forma. The amendment was put and lost, and the motion carried. The Chairman’s suggestion with regard to postponing any action to be taken till after next meeting was adopted. ADJOURNMENT. This was ail the business, and the Board then adjourned.
