At a meeting of members, at which 22 were present, the Premier being the only one absent, a resolution was car ried that the Ota >o Central Line must lie pushed on to a payable point, namely, at least as far as Taieri Lake. Another resolution was carried that no new lines should be constructed until the Otago Central was carried to a payable point.
Floods in Southland. Invercargill, May 31.
The recent raina have been fo lowed by the most disastrous floods that have occurred for many years. There are several breaks on the Invercargill, Kings ton, '•"ightcaps, Waimea Plains, and Dunedin lines. In one case the break is a mile long, and will take some time to repair. The damages from lore of property must bo great No particulars are to baud. j
