This was filled to its utmost capacity, several forms being placed in the aisle, and some persons having to stand in tho porch. The Rev, A. He remarked that it could only be carried on with the hearty goodwill and co-operation of the c tiice bearers and people, which, he was glad to say, ex ated. He went on to speak of the strengta of a church as lying not in members, or wealth, or intellect only, but in the possession of the spirit of Christ, and concluded by illustrating the power of sanctified influence.

The Treasurer’s statement was presented by Mr G. Gilmour. Revs. D. McNicoll and T, Hill from Ashburton spoke In excellent taste, and their remarks while humorous were full of instruction. The Rev. Mr Beattie spoke on “ Sociality,” guarding the young as to what books to read, and what companionships to form. He expressed himself as much gratified at the spirit he had seen prevailing that evening, and wished the congregation every success. Votes of thanks were moved in brief but appropriate terms, to the Ladies, by Mr Antrobus; to the Bachelors, by Mr Donaldson ; 1o the Cirnr, Mrs Harding, Mr Williamson, and other friends whu assisted by Air Taylor ; to the Speakers, by Mr Chapman ; to Mr Dakers, by Mr Gilmour; and to the Chairman by Mr J.
