AUSTRALIANS v. SURREY.

The] cricket match, Australians v Surrey, commenced at Kennington yesterday, in the presence of a large number of spectators, who manifested great interest in the proceedings. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was present during* a portion of the day. The weather was rather unfavorable for cricket, heavy showers falling at intervals. The following comprise the Home team: —W, E. Roller, W. W. Read, J. Shieler, £. Driver, R. Abel, G. G. Jones, Maurice Read H. Wood, G. Lohmaun, J. Baumont, and T. Bowler. The Englishmen went first to the wickets and succeeded in putting together 171 runs before they were finally disposed of. The principal scores were —R. Abel, run out 24, W. W. Read, bowled, 14; Maurice Read, bowled, 27 j G. Lohmann, not out, 43. Evans took three wickets for 5 runs, while Garrett disposed of two for 3 runs.

The Australians then went to the wicket, and when the stumps were drawn had made 12 runs with a loss of two wickets, Spofforth being indisposed did not take part in the match.
