Second Day; The stewards o£ the Ashburton Racing Club mot again this morning, and, although the weather was still unpropitious, they determined to proceed with the second day’s programme of the autumn meeting. The course and enclosures wore in a very soft condition, but the sun shone out at intervals, and on the whole the weather was much more agreeable than on the lirst day. The attendance, as might have boon expected, was very small, and the business done by the totalisator and by the booth holders was of a very limited character. The fohowing are the results ; County Hukuoi: Rack, of 25 sovs ; over six flights of hurdles, about 3ft Gin high. One mile and a half.

The field was despatched to an excellent start, and Dan O’Brien led over the first

hurdle, closely attended by Sultan. At the railway turn. Mail Boy went to the front, but ran off at the first hurdle and left Sultan in command. At the back of the course Sultan increased his load, and Marmion passed Dan O’Brien. This order was maintained to the

finish, all the horses jumping in excellent form, and Sultan won hard hold by ten lengths. Time—2min lljaeo. Totalisator—--41 —2s—£l5 —£1 11s.

After a long delay at the post the held was despatched to a straggling start, of which Meteor and Athol Daisy had much the best, and Take Miss and Quibble the worst. At tho half mile post Take Miss commenced to improve her position very rapidly, and Jack on the inside also made a forward movement. At tins home (urn Meteor fell back beaten, and Athol Daisy went on with the running two lengihs in advance of Jack, Inside the rails Jack and Take Miss were under the whip, but could never get on terms with Athol Daisy, who won easily by two lengths.
