[Per s.s. Manapouri at the Bluff] Melbourne, May 12.
The Commissioners of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria brought its annual session to a close on Friday last. The assembled ministers and elders expressed their approval of the action taken by the Heathen Missions Committee in protesting against the proposed annexation of the New Hebrides by France. A large meeting was held at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Warnambool, to express sympathy with the Home Kule proposals of Mr Gladstone, and resolutions to that effect were carried by a large majority,
Perth, May 11. By the steamer Otway, which arrived from Derby on Sunday last, news comes to baafL.. that a 20oz nugget has been found by a than named Slattery. Up to the date of the Otway’s departure 2000 oz had reached Derby from the Kimberley goldfields.
