THE FROZEN MEAT.
The “Gloucester Journal” says;—Tha cessation of the export of frozen mutton from Australia has bad a good effect upon the New Zealand trade, prices having risen lately in consequence of the small supply, helped by the cold weather. The latest cargoes have sold at 4Jd to 6d per lb, which may be regarded as remunerative prices. At times during the past three or four tha supply has been quite insufficient tha provincial trade. There is room for a moderate quantity of cheap _ meat, without unduly depressing the trade in the superior British commodity. The excellent lamb sent from New Zealand is now coming in freeiy. It is decidedly better in comparison with home-fed lamb than frozen mutton is in comparison with English and Scotch mutton.
