Mr F. Cotton held a sale of racehorses and thoroughbred stock at the Commercial Hotel yards yesterday. The following were among the principal lots sold Princess Royal, 15gs Mr G, Rutherford; Roseneath, 15ga, Mr Mason; yearling filly, by Cassivelannus — Roseneath, 25gs, Mr Rutherford; Tramp Card (withdrawn), 130 gs; Hibernian (withdrawn), 160 gs; Forest King (withdrawn), 50gs; Centurion, 13gs, Mr D. Rutherford ; Jasper, 30gs, Mr Dennis. Scienee has robbed shipwreck of its | greatest horror —thirst. A little citrate of silver is added to the seawater, chloride of silver is precipitated and a harmless mineral.water produced. An onnce tf tie citrate renders a half-pint of water dnnkab'e.
