HORSE MARKET.
Mr T. Bullock reports for the week ending Saturday, May 8 :—32 horses were yarded for the day’s sale, but a large proportion were of an inferior stamp, consequently for the major part of those sold only low prices wore obtained. Those having first class draughts for sale placed higher reserves on them, than present market value, the result being they were turned out unsold. At present there is a good demand for medium draughts suitable for farm work and there were several buyers present who were enable to obtain what they required. Out of the day’s entry (32) 17 were sold at the following prices : Medium draughts, £l4 £l6; do, rather lighter, £8 15s to £9 10s; aged and inferior, £4 to £5 10s; light harness horses, £7 5s to £8 ; do, with foal at foot, brought £6 ; hacks £4 ss, £5 ; do, of a better description, np to £9 15a ; 2-year-olds light, £4 5s to £6. Sundries—second hand spring cart brought £10; harness and implements at market rates. Land &c.—Since my last report 1 have sold rural sections 16850, 16969 and pari' of 18582, containing about 200 acres, situated in the Longbeach Road District, being part of farm known as Barr’s, at £7 per acre, and leased the other portion, about 170 acres, at a rental equal to interest on £7 per acre; and by auction on Wednesday last I disposed of rural sections 22120 22121; and another near Waterton, containing 232 acres at L 5 per acre. I have also sold lot 173, 174, 175, 176, 177, 178, containing 6 acres with house thereon at Methvon, for £l5O.
