JPKB AHNOOfATION.] Fiblding, To-day. Yesterday afternoon a deaf mate named Brooker, while walking between the rails at Tamonui branch station, was knocked down by a timber laden truck. His legs were broken and his skull fractured. He died instantaneously. Death. Wellington, To-day. The following telegram has been received by Government from Sir P. 0 Owen : —London, May 4.—The Prince of Wales this day officially inspected N.Z. section, and was received by .-ir F. D Bell, Dr Haast, and Mr Buller, and examined with much interest, and in detail, the various sections of the Exhibition. He exyressed his great satisfaction at the hearty co operation of the Government of New Zealand and the completeness of the arrangements. The New Militia, Married men beyond 40 will be exempt from service in the militia nnder the new Act The third class will inclnde married men between 30 and 40, and single men from 40 to 40 to 55, and not as previoniljf telegraphed
