ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Tt estekday’s Sale. Sheep—The supply of fat sheep was rather large, beiug somewhat above the average. A slight improvement was noticeable in the demand, but although prices rose and fed during the sale, on the whole no alteration can be reported. The various lots moved off pretty freely, and nearly every line was sold. The best
lines of cross-bred wethers sold at from da to 12s 6d, and inferior second-rate brought from 6s to Bs. We quote mutton at from I£J to l|d per lb, the average price being about Ifd. .Not more than half a dozen lines of score sheep were penned. The principal sales were—Cull cross-bred ewes at 2a l)J, lambs at 3a Si and 3s lOd, and two-tooth cross bred ewes at 3a 31. Cattle—The fat cattle market shows little or no alteration. The demand was again very limited, and the sale throughout proved exceeding dull. We I have no change to report in values, and quote from 16a io 18j per 1001 b as the average price for beef. The enquiry for store cattle was very poor ; a fairly large proportion changed hands, but at prices I which could hardly have been satisfactory I to the owners. Dairy cows of the right I sort still meet with a ready sale, and I their value is well maintained. Pigs— I The number of pigs yarded was the I largest yet yarded at Addington, the pens I usually set apart for them not being any- I thing like sufficient. As a natural con I sequence, there was a decided drop in I values, bacon carers having it all their I own way. Prices for bacon pigs ranged I from 35s to 40s, and porkers at ptopor- I tionato rates. —Times I
