The general health of the passengers on board the Dorunda Is reported to be improving, and it is believed the steps taken by the authorities to isolate patients and persons with whom they have been in contact will be effectual in preventing the spread of the disease.

Shipping. Melbourne, Yesterday. Arrived—Manapouri, from the Bluff Sailed—Te Anau, for the Bluff. (Received December 16, 1 p-tn.) General Scratchley. Melbourne, To-day. The public funeral of the late Gene* • ral Scratchley took place at St Kilda cemetery at io o’clock this morning. The ceremony was of a very imposing character. The various Australian colonies were numerously and influentially represented. The funeral obsequies were performed by the Bishop of Melbourne, and the procession, which waa very lenghty one, included two Metropolitan battalions of Victorian infan-|||| try and militia. There was a very large attendance of the general public to do honor to General Scratcbley’s memory. Censure. Sydney, To-day. In the House of Representatives last night Sir John Robertson brought down a vote of censure on the Government for their Budget proposals. After considerable discussion the debate was adjourned as the Government were unprepared for the motion. The proceedings during the evening were of a lively character, personalities being freely exchanged between the several speakers.
