SHEEP STEALING.
To the Editor. Sir, —I read in your valuable paper of the Hon W, Peter very wisely offering a reward for the discovery of sheep stealers. Would it not be to the benefit of other • quattersto follow the hon gentleman’s example by offering a farther reward, and endeavoring to put a stop to the long practised game;—lt appears to be no very difficult matter in this colony to steal sheep without mnch danger of detection, especially to men, owners of email flocks and in possesson of a convenient place to keep them.—l knew of a well-to-do cook atoo being convicted for sheep stealing, thanks to the vigilance of Inspector Pender He had carried on the game for some years, before his black deads were die covered, but he met with the punishment he so richly merited. It ia possible to play with tbe bull till you get the horns in your arm. I am, etc, Honesty.
