Thompson’s b m Camelia, 6yra, 7st7lb (Mr Johns) 0 Tramp was first away, and at the rail, way tarn held a lead of ten lengths from Oranmer, who was five lengths in front of Oranmer and Tit Sit. Tramp increased his lead as they ran along the back stretch but at the six-furlong post Mr Pilbrow set Tit Bit going, and he soon had Oame* lia and Oranmer in difficulties. Tramp turned into the straight with a lead of fully ten lengths, but Tit Bit coming very fast got up in the last stride, and won an exciting race by half a neck Tima—2min 4ofseo. Post Stakes of 15 sovs; one mile. Mr T. Bought n’s oh m Gold Dust (late Lady May) beat Frolic, Supplejack, Lottie, Little Pet, Queenie, Brown Hose, and Fox. Totaliaator— 233—l36 — U 3j. The winner was sold to Mr Mack Scott for L2B. netting Ll 3 to the Club. Flying Handicap, of 60 sovs; threequarters of a mile. Talebearer Sat 91b, Jack Sat 21b, Rocket Sat 21b, Forest King 6at 121 b, and Rsd Wing fist, weighed out for this race. At the starting post Forest King and Bed Wing bolted, and created a long delay. They were ultimately despatched to a fair start, of which Talebearer got rather the beat. A splendid race between Talebearer, Rocket and Jack resulted in a neck victory for the first namel, Rocket being the same distance in front of Jaok. The watches registered Imin ssec as the time of the race, and it was at once erident (b»t «Q«ethhig wm wto«g. The
Stewards held a meeting, and discovered tha l the Starter had despatched the horses from the two mile post, about 200 yards short of the comet distance. The s art was declared void, and the money on the totalisator ordered to be returned to investors in fall Rooket was the only horse that returned to the post after this decision, and he walked over for the stakes
Second Day. The Club «-n« again favored with perfect holiday weather for the day’s sport', but the attendance was hardly so large as that cf yesterday. Messrs Davis and Banger presided at the confectioners’ booths, and gave the utmost satisfaction. The publicans’ and luncheon booths were .■ so satisfactorily famished as is usual at the-Club’s meetings. Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin were as nsusl cm fait in the manipulation of the totalisator. The officials were zealous and successful In the discharge .of their various duties. Mark’s ch g Andy, aged, Bst lllb (Miller) 0 Secretary and Master Agnes led to tha first hurdle, where Andy ran off and took no farther part in the race. Passing the stand Secretary and Master Agnes still led, Bavenswood and King Arthur close np, and Silver King tailing off. Along the back stretch King Arthur improved hie position, and Bavenswood also drew clear to the leaders. They turned Into the straight together, but at the distance they were all under the whip with the exception of Master Agnes, whose easy victory was apparent, notwitbs>anding the display of punishment made by sheenan. Tim Whiffler made the running for quarter o! a mite, when Spade Guinea and Talebearer closed on the leader, and half a mile from home they were all to* gether Entering the straight Spade Guinea drew away, and although she lost a lot of ground by swerving at the rails she won comfortaoly by four lengths, Leon second, and Talebearer third.
