The Board of Management of the Ashbarton Home, appointed by the United Board, has arranged to meet Ur March on Monday next' at the County Council Office, when the management will be for* mally banded over by Mr March. The Committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club have issued the following circular:—lt having been brought to the notice of the Canterbury Jockey Club that owners occasionally forward nominations, etc, accompanied by a statement that the necessary payments either have been or will be forwarded through the post, the Committee beg to draw your attention to the following regulation, which invariably appears in their programme:— *‘No nomlnation or acceptance will be received on any pretence whatever, unles actually accompanied by the necessary amount in cash.”—The Committee beg to advise yon that, finding that it is absolutely neceapaty that this rule should be strictly carried out, they have determined to decline to receive nominations or acceptanoea on any pretence whatever unless actually accompanied by the necessary amonut in cash ; and, so that there might be no misapprehension in the future, the Committee desire to make it distinctly understood that when nominations, acceptances, etc, whether by telegram or otherwise, are only accompanied by a statement that the money has or will be forwarded, snoh nominations or acceptances will be refused as being in violation of the regulation which distinctly states that the necessary •mohnt in cash must actually accompany the nomination or acceptance
