THE OTAGO AGRILCULTURAL & PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

Dunedin, Last night. The attendance at the first day's Show of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society, was good considering the high charges The weather was glorious. The judging was confined to sheep, cattle, and pigs, horses not putting in an appearance till the second day No prizes were awarded for agricultural implements, but there was a large collection. In merinos (fine combing), Watson Shennan took most of the first prizes and special prizes for the best ram of any age, J. Johnston taking the prize for the best ewe. In strong combing the executors of A. MoMaster carried all before them. H. and T. Little took the prize for champion ewe, and A. Murdoch for champion mis, the prizes in these classes being well distributed. The Hon M. Holmes was most successful in Lino das, and took the prize for the best ram, John Reid taking the prize for the best ewe. The Land Company were well up in the classes for Southdowns, the competition between Deans and Oarforth, of Christchurch. Honors were about divided. J. Deans took a special prize for the best ram In shorthorns, Messrs Menlove, John Deans, and John Reid were the principal exhibitors Menlove took the first prize for the best bull aud beat cow; the Land Company were successful in polled Angus ; A and J. MoFarlane were the moat successful in Ayrshires, Rankin, Oowan and Fergu so a pushing them closely. Ferguson secured the prize far the best cow < a the ground la dairy cattle, and A and J, MoFarlane the champion medal for the b It bull.
