Ashburton Guardian Office. Friday afternoon. The following is the Com Exchange report for the week ending Friday, November 20th: — Wheat —Since the holidays there has beenveiy little doing. Farmers are. for the most part, busy shearing. No sales of importance have place, consequently we cannot note any particular change, but reports from Home show lbat.fr nglish prices are firmer, though unaltered. A good demand exists for whole fowl wheat at quotations. Oats are very dull of sale for export, but are being slowly moved off for consumption locally. Barley remains in the same torpid state. Maltsters and brewers, having a large quantity on band, and, the warm weather approaching, do not feel disposed to augment Stocks. Feed can be placed only at a great sacrifice to growers. Beans and peas meets with very few buyers, at the same time but few parcels are in the market. Rye Grass—The season is almost past, and the only lines offering are prime machine dressed, which command full rates. Cooksloot —There is a good enquiry for hfeavy bright seed for shipment; discolored and inferior is unsaleable. Potatoes — The season may ow be considered over for shipment, consequently prices have considerably receded. Dairy produce remains without change. Quotations for the week were as follows ;—Wheat —Prime milling (hard sorts), 3s 3d to 3s 4-d ; Tuscan, 3s id ; second quality, 2« yd to 2s lod ; chicken wheat (whole), 2s 3d to 2s fid. t'ats—Bright eavy short, is Jld ; slightly discolored short, is Bdto is lod; dun, is lid to 2s ; long and inferior kinds, is fid to is Bd. Barley—Nominal. • Beans —2s fid to as 8d- Peas—Seed, 4s ; feed, 2s gd to 3s, • Rye grass—Machine dressed, 4s fid; cocksfoot, bright heavy, 4d to 4#d ; discolored, 2d to 2#d. Potatoes—Dervvenls (sacks included), 42s fid to 45s- Da ry produce—Butter in tubs, prime, fid to yd ; second qu-lity, 4d to 6d; cheese, sma 1 loaf shape, } medium, ; arge, 4d to d.
