“THE ARTILLERY OF WORDS.”
TO THB EDITOB. Sib, —I am sure that those who read your excellent article* on matters affect* inj? the welfare of this colony muit feel grateful to yon. To my miud your oatspoken opinions of Sir Julius Vogel are of vital importance and golden worth. I wish that they could be read, and read thoughtfully by every man in New Zealand. One suggestion allow me to make : a footnote explaining the meaning of such words as " polilogy " and "simulacrum" would be useful for people " in the country districts eapeci-illy." I know youwill t excuse the playful suggestion. Zaunds! I was never so bethump'd with words Since I first call'd my brothers' father, Dad. I am, etc-, - E.H. [We accept a just rebuke from a much valued critic. —Ed Q ]
