COMMERCIAL.
Ashburton Guardian Office, Friday afternoon.
Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. report upon the live block Market, for the Ashburton District, for the week ending November 3, as follows At the Tinwald Yards, on Tuesday, we held our usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle and pigs. This was one of the dampest days we have had this season, and in consequence a ■very small entry, of stock resulted ; in fact, scarcely any stock came forward, and as no sale takes place next week, butchers will not have sufficient to carry them over the fortnight. In ffit sheep we cannot quote any improvement and per lb is the highest quotation in shorn sheep. In fat cattle steers realised L 6 .10s, and we quote at 19s to 20s per loolbs. In stores there was no entry, and the sale closed to the smallest entiy we have seen since he opening of the yards.
